Established in 2004, Redhead Mobile Surf School provides smaller class sizes, beginner to intermediate levels. We are licensed with Surfing Australia, which oversees over 70 affiliated surf schools Australia wide. Open all year round including winter.
Now offering Standup Paddle Surfing Lessons with Newcastle Standup Paddle Surfing. A great way to view the Lake/Harbour or have fun on a flat day. We have a great program to develop your skills so don't just hire a board, come and learn how it's done the right way. Come and learn to surf with a local surfer, Miles Niddrie, who has surfed the Newcastle area for over 25 years and has already introduced plenty of beginners to our wonderful lifestyle of surfing. I am a full-time professional coach and offer smaller group lessons to provide more personal surfing instruction. Groups have a student/coach ratio of up to 5:1 and 2 groups maximum. I conduct all lessons for great continuity and consistency. I am passionate about what I do and adhere to the “soul surfer” approach to surfing. The surfer having the most fun in the water is the happiest surfer not the most skilled surfer. Keep a smile on your face and enjoy your time in the water and be friendly to other surfers.
Surfing is a great lifestyle, fun and fitness at the same time. The waves are always different and it's
great to get out there and enjoy them with friends or family. Becoming a surfer takes time and practice, so getting
some help will speed up the learning curve and provide a solid platform to build on.
When choosing a surf school look at the coach/surfer ratio first, then how big the total
group can be. Remember a large group of 12 plus beginners in the water at once is not always
the best learning environment. To really learn something properly a small group works the best.

Special events are held annually. The Rip Curl Girls Go Surfing Day is held every December
and is a special weekend just for the girls. Check for details closer to the weekend in my photo gallery and
check out the photos from last year. I also offer birthday parties and pre-wedding events like bucks and hens shows.
BOARD/WETSUIT HIRE available too, see me at the beach and you can have a go while
I'm conducting a lesson. Minimum hire 1.5hrs. Call for rates.
