I offer a more personal learning environment and a mobile service to the best learning conditions on any given day. Learn to surf at Blacksmiths beach, Stockton beach, Newcastle to Merewether beach, Redhead beach to Catherine Hill Bay . Beaches and times will be chosen depending on the conditions and tides. As no beach in Newcastle is “safe” all the time we may need to travel to find the right beginner wave for your lessons. It is not as simple as just going to any beach and paddling out. Occasionally the ocean will not co-operate and we may need to re-schedule lessons due to dangerous conditions. This is part of surfing and patience is something a surfer needs at times, but this makes the good days all the more enjoyable.

Learn how to paddle, safely handle your board in the surf, stand- up techniques, turning skills, surfing conduct and local conditions and the best beaches to practice at. Surf safety instruction provided so you can identify hazards like rips, sweeps, wave types and what type of wave to look for when you are practicing.
Classes also include how to choose your equipment.

Larger groups are available upon request for families, businesses, special events and school groups.

Redhead Surf School is also registered with the Australian Sports Commission to deliver after school surfing activities.

All lessons include soft surfboards, wetsuits (winter or summer suits), rashvests, sunscreen and surf safety awareness instruction.

Accreditation

Fully qualified level 1 Surf Coach with over 25 years surfing experience in the Newcastle area. Surfing Australia Licensed, senior 1st aid certificate, APOLA lifeguard accredited and council approved to conduct lessons at all Newcastle area beaches. All lessons are conducted by the owner/operator for great continuity and consistency.
